The Commonwealth Law Courts in Adelaide was a notable milestone in the development of court facilities from an integrated technology perspective. Rod Louey-Gung provided specialist design for the in-courtroom technology for the twenty-two courts and called upon Glenn Leembruggen, David Gilfillan and Mark Hanson to undertake the electro-acoustic design and commissioning of the sound systems. It was this project that formed the foundation of the design practice that has since become ICE Design Australia.
The courtroom technology systems in this building have been operational for 9 years, and have received much praise from the court users. In turn, they have become the benchmark by which the sound quality performance in other courts across Australia, including the recently completed Queens Square Law Courts, have been judged. We continue to maintain a presence and contact point for the jurisdictions to assist with technology queries and training and will shortly embark on the first technology upgrades for selected courtroom audio and electroacoustics systems.
